Femi Kuti has denied ever calling Peter Obi’s supporters zombies that can be controlled anyhow.
The legendary musician clarified the controversial statement he made at the African shrine that appeared as an insult to the supporters of the Labour Party presidential aspirant, Peter Obi, in the coming 2023 elections.
Femi Kuti said his comment about the ‘Obidients’ was misinterpreted and twisted by a news platform, Peoples Gazette. The media outfit alleged Femi Kuti stated;
“You know what obedience means? Stand up, sit down, sit there — zombie. How can you be Obidient in this chaos? I am not Obidient. Tell me, at 60, why am I Obidient? You said I should be Obidient, sit down, be peaceful. Are you all okay in this country?”
Spelling out his position about the statement, Femi Kuti replied to the news outlet on Twitter, branding them as liars. “You are such liars. Of what benefit is it to the people when you take my words out of context like this?” he shared.
“I said I’m too angry at my age to be obedient. Expressing I do not like the ‘term’ But if Peter Obi wins and actually changes the country better for all of us,” the 60-year-old added.

‘Obidient’ is the slogan adopted by the fans and supporters of Peter Obi, who is contesting for the post of the president in Nigeria. Come 2023, Peter Obi will face Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the ruling party, All Progressive Congress (APC), and Atiku Abubakar of the opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to vie for the seat.
