Multi award-winning record producer, Don Jazzy has stated that paying rent in Nigeria will help an individual understand some certain things deeply.
The Mavin record boss said until people get to a certain point in life, they would never understand why the biblical prodigal son returned home.
The well-known parable of the prodigal son in the Bible tells the story of a son who asks his father for his inheritance and squandered it recklessly on indulgences.
With nothing left of his fortune, he is forced to work as a hired hand for a pig farmer. He is so destitute that he longs to eat the food of the pigs.
Realising that his father’s servants have better working conditions, he resolves to return to his father, beg forgiveness, and ask to be his servant.
However, upon arriving at his father’s house, he is welcomed with loving arms. His father, overwhelmed with joy on his son’s return, holds a feast in his honour.
According to Don Jazzy, only at the point when individuals begin to pay rent would they come to the understanding of why the prodigal son had to return to his father even after ‘throwing away’ his inheritance.
He wrote:
“Until you start paying house rent, you’ll never understand why the prodigal son came back.”
