Patience Ozokwor, popularly known as Mama G, a veteran Nollywood actress, has stated that living in the country’s most populous states, such as Lagos or Abuja, does not guarantee success in the film industry.

WITHIN NIGERIA reports that the actress made the statement on Tuesday night in Enugu during the candle procession night in honour of the late Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Africa Movie Academy Awards, Madam Peace Anyiam-Osigwe.

According to Patience, many of her colleagues began their careers in Enugu State but moved to Abuja and Lagos as stars and forgot their roots.

The thespian, on the other hand, stated that she would stay in the village and would confidently tell anyone she is from the village whenever she travels outside of Enugu.

Patience Ozokwor stated that if an actor or actress is talented, he or she does not need to relocate to become a star.

She said:

But for me, I said I am going to stay in Enugu, inside the village and when I go to Lagos, I tell them I am a village woman.

I stay at Ngwo in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State and God has shown me that you can become a star from anywhere.

You don’t need to be in Lagos or Abuja, If you are good enough, they will call you even from America.

She added that she had received the Member Federal Republic award and the Centenary Award which is given once every 100 years.

In her words:

I did not even know who put my name there, so you can be picked from anywhere. That is the statement I wanted to make in this industry but I am happy that I am saying it today.
