Cross Okonkwo, a former Big Brother Naija ‘Shine Ya Eye’ housemate, has come under fire online for claiming that Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate Peter Obi is selfish in his presidential ambition.
WITHIN NIGERIA reports that the reality TV star made the claim in a video clip from a political event titled ‘Atiku Youth World Outreach,’ which surfaced online.
Cross, who is a supporter of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, asked in the video why Peter Obi is being selfish by contesting despite knowing he cannot win the 2023 election.
In his words:
Why is Peter Obi a bit selfish? Why is he being selfish when he knows that he cannot win this election? Why is he doing that? Explain to me, I want to know how?
This earned him several criticisms; some called his statement insensitive, while others questioned why he entered the BBNaija show knowing he would not win.
