As the battle against COVID-19 continues, Nigeria has recorded 662 new cases of the deadly virus in 22 states and the federal capital territory, Abuja.
This was announced by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) in his daily update on Friday, February 19.
According to the Nigeria Center for Disease Control NCDC, Lagos recorded 167 while the FCT recorded 116 fresh cases.
Other states with fresh cases include Ogun-45, Kano-44, Akwa Ibom-35, Edo-34, Rivers-27, Kaduna-23, Osun-23, Kwara-22, Taraba-22, Oyo-20, Ondo-19, Plateau-14, Abia-11, Imo-11, Nasarawa-7, Niger-6, Bayelsa-5, Delta-5, Enugu-3, Ekiti-2 and Jigawa-1.
Nigeria now has 150,908 confirmed cases. 127,500 patients have been treated and discharged while 1,813 deaths have been recorded so far.
In other news, WITHIN NIGERIA reported that the Kano State Government is planning to appoint COVID-19 marshals to enforce safety protocols.
Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje disclosed this on Saturday while meeting with journalists, at the Government House, Kano.
He said there was the need to tackle COVID-19 with all seriousness, noting that non-compliance to safety protocols had been identified as a huge challenge to curbing the spread of the virus.
Ganduje said the state government had held a meeting with relevant agencies to find a template on how the compliance would be enforced.
