Nigeria records 240 new COVID-19 cases, total now 155657

As the battle against COVID-19 continues, Nigeria has recorded 240 new cases of the deadly virus in 12 states and the federal capital territory, Abuja.

This was announced by the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) via its daily update on Sunday, February 28.

Accoridng to the statistics released by the agency, Anambra had 85 fresh cases while Lagos recorded 82 fresh cases. Other states with fresh cases include Osun-17, Ogun-10, Kwara-9, FCT-8, Kano-7, Abia-6, Borno-4, Edo-2, Bayelsa-2, Kaduna-2 and Rivers-1.

Nigeria now has 155,657 confirmed cases. 133,768 patients have been successfully treated and discharged while 1,907 deaths have so far been recorded.

In other news, WITHIN NIGERIA reported that the Nigerian government has said that the expected four million doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccines will arrive the country on Tuesday morning.

The Chairman of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19, Boss Mustapha, made this known in a video message late Saturday night.

“I can assure you that the vaccines are coming and they are coming very quickly barring any change in the delivery plan that has been released to us by UNICEF,” Mr Mustapha said.
