Gunmen abduct police officer in Edo

Unknown gunmen have reportedly kidnapped a senior officer with the Edo State Police command.

WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that the gunmen broke into the Benin residence of the victim identified as ASP Clement Amoko in the early hours of Sunday March 7 and whisked him away in the presence of his wife and children.

According to Daily Trust report, the abductors have already made contact with the family members to demand ransom.

The police have reportedly commenced an operation for the release of the officer.

Speaking on the development, the police public relations officer in the state, DSP Princewill Osaigbovo, confirmed the incident.

“The DPO of Ogida division just confirmed the incident, investigation is on the rescue the officer.”

In other news, WITHIN NIGERIA reported that a serious altercation between two siblings, Kadir and Suleiman, in Auchi, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State, on Friday, resulted in the death of the younger one, Suleiman, who was stabbed to death by his elder brother, Kadir.

It was gathered that the trouble started when Suleiman scolded Kadir’s wife for being rude to her mother-in-law, the siblings’ mother, and the matter did not go down well with Kadir, who felt slighted that his younger brother had the guts to rebuke his (Kadir’s) wife.

Kadir, who was said to be away when the altercation between his mother and his wife occurred allegedly engaged the victim who was his younger brother in a brawl but, their mother’s intervention calmed frayed their nerves.
