The Christian community in Ilorin has vowed to continue their protest against the use of hijab on Thursday in the ten missionary schools in the state.
According to DAILY POST, a credible source within the state chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, who spoke on the condition of anonymity said that the Christian body will continue the protest action until the demands presented to the Kwara State government are realised.
“Following a meeting held by CAN, with church leaders and proprietors of the affected grant aided mission schools, held on Wednesday evening at St Barnabas church in Ilorin, to review position vis-a-vis the happenings, their resolve was to continue occupation of the ten schools today, Thursday to resist the enforcement of the use of hijab,” the source disclosed.
WITHIN NIGERIA recall that Muslims and Christian faithful on Wednesday in Ilorin thrown caution to the wind as they attacked themselves with objects over wearing of hijab in missionary schools.
The clash was said to have occurred at Baptist School, Surulere after students wearing hijab were prevented from entering the school by some protesting Christians.
However, the Kwara state government has insisted that missionary schools are public schools and Muslim schools can wear hijab to any state owned state.
