2023 election: The South should produce the President – Masari

The Executive Governor of Katsina state, Aminu Bello Masari has said that the Southern region should produce the president in the 2023 election.

Masari stated this on Thursday during an interview on Channels Television.

Responding to what he thinks would happen after the end of President Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure, Masari said the ruling All Progressive Party, (APC)  has a “bright future” in the country when compared to other political parties.

The governor said “With regards to zoning, fair is fair. If you ask me, I would, as a person — Aminu — think we should move the presidency to the southern part of the country.”

He refused to specify which exact geo-political zone in the south should produce the president, stating that “south is south”.

According to the governor, no political party has impacted the lives of “ordinary Nigerians” positively through social intervention programmes as the APC has done, hence, the party will fare well in the 2023 presidential election.

Masari added “No government, no political party since the independence in Nigeria has brought about social interventions like the APC government. Billions of naira have been paid to ordinary people.”
