Gov. Abiodun calls for re-evaluation of APC constitution to reflect true democratic principles –

The Executive Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun said that All Progressive Congress (APC) constitution needs re-evaluation to reflect true democratic principles.

Governor Abiodun stated this on Friday during the South-West Stakeholders Meeting for APC Constitution Review, held at the June 12 cultural centre, Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital.

Abiodun said it is important for the party to continuously re-evaluate the constitution to ensure internal democracy and prove that APC members are true democrats.

He said “It is important that we come together to appraise ourselves as members of this great party, and, even look critically at the structure of our party,” he said.

“This will give us the opportunity to evaluate the journey so far. It is a period of self-examination.

“In doing this, the Constitution of our party is a vital instrument that we must continuously re-evaluate. If we must prove to others that we are true democrats, we must be seen as practising and ensuring internal democracy even within the party.”

Abiodun call on APC members in the zone to the meeting to chart the way forward for the party’s progress in the zone.

While Osun state governor, Gboyega Oyetola said the meeting will provide the platform for the south-west to respond to the growing agitation for party reform.

The governor of Ondo state, Rotimi Akeredolu, disclosed that the south-west would constitute a committee to present the position of the zone to the review committee.
