The National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) says seven states of the federation are yet to commence vaccination against COVID-19 virus.
NPHCDA disclosed this on Tuesday in its situation update, adding that 215,277 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have so far been administered in the country.
The seven states that are yet to administer a single dose are Abia, Kebbi, Kogi, Niger, Oyo, Taraba and Zamfara.
However, NPHCDA said the first dose of the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine has been given in 29 states and the federal capital territory.
According to NPHCDA, the country has managed to administer an average of about 12,000 doses daily with Lagos on the lead with the highest number of doses administered with 58,461, followed by Bauchi (23,827) and Jigawa (20,800).
The NPHCDA also said Nigeria has been able to vaccinate 5.5 percent of the target population against the infection.
At the state level, Jigawa, Bauchi and Kwara — in that order — has vaccinated the highest proportion of those being targeted.
Recall that Nigeria began vaccinating citizens against COVID-19 on March 5 after receiving 3.9 million doses courtesy of COVAX, the global alliance against COVID-19.
