As Nigeria continues its fight against coronavirus, 96 new cases of the deadly virus have been recorded in 14 states and the federal capital territory, Abuja.
This was announced by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control in its daily update on Wednesday, March 24.
According to the centre, Lagos state has the highest number of positive cases of the deadly virus in the country.
The breakdown of the deadly virus across states is as follows; Lagos-28, Yobe-20, Akwa Ibom-10, Cross River-9, Kaduna-6, Kano-5, Edo-4, Oyo-3, Plateau-3, Jigawa-2, Osun-2, Borno-1, Nasarawa-1, Rivers-1, Sokoto-1.
There are now 162,178 confirmed cases of Coronavirus in the country and 2,031 deaths have been recorded. 148,726 patients who recovered from the disease have also been discharged.
In other news, WITHIN NIGERIA reported that Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State on Wednesday, received the AstraZeneca COVID-19 jab at the governor’s office, Ibadan.
Executive Secretary, Oyo State Primary Healthcare Board, Dr Muideen Olatunji who administered the vaccine to the governor said recipients of the jab were only likely to have mild reactions.
After receiving the vaccine, Makinde said he ordered that a sterility test be done on the vaccines received because he wanted to be sure that the AstraZeneca which came from India was properly handled and well preserved till it got to the state.
