Village head and two others dead as bandits invade Sokoto community

A community identified as Tunga situated in Illela Local Government Area of Sokoto State has been attacked by gunmen suspected to be bandits.

The village head and two others were killed by the bandits during the said attack.

WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that the armed bandits invaded the village on Wednesday evening March 24, shooting sporadically into the air.

According to report, the village head was shot dead after he refused to follow the bandits who wanted to kidnap him.

This is coming days after gunmen suspected to be bandits attacked Amarawa community, also in Illela LGA, killing at least 10 persons.

Sokoto, like many other states across the North, has witnessed sporadic attacks by bandits and kidnappers that have claimed the lives of many.

In other news, WITHIN NIGERIA reported that Abba Abbey Gidan Haki, the personal aide to former Sokoto State Governor, Senator Aliyu Wamakko has been killed by gunmen suspected to be bandits.

Confirming the tragic incident, the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to Senator Wamakko, Bashir Rabe Mani said that Abbey, 50, was abducted on Thursday night, March 18.

WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that the aide’s dead boy was found dumped along a road to Durbawa town in Kware Local Government Area of Sokoto on Friday, March 19.
