Gunmen on Thursday evening stormed the Palace of Obadu of Ilemeso Ekiti in Ekiti State, Oba David Oyewumi, and whisked the monarch away to an unknown destination.
Ilemeso is one of the communities in Oye local government area of the State with a record of kidnappings lately.
The gunmen, numbering about six, it was gathered, had scaled the fence of the the Oba’s palace and shot sporadically to scare away the other occupants.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relation Officer, Ekiti State Police Command, Mr Sunday Abutu, said “it happened yesterday in his palace”.
Abutu said further that necessary steps have been taken to rescue the Monarch and apprehend the culprits.
As at the time of filing this report, no update yet from the kidnappers.
The latest abduction came barely a week after the Elewu of Ewu, in Ilemeje Local Government of Ekiti State, Oba Adetutu Ajayi escaped kidnapper’s ambush.
