Gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen have kidnapped a businessman in Kwara state.
The victim, Alaga Olayemi, a farmer, and some of his aides were coming from the maize farm on Wednesday when they were ambushed around 7pm.
It was gathered the two aides managed to escape with cutlass cuts while Olayemi was whisked away.
Kwara Police Command spokesperson Ajayi Okasanmi confirmed the incident.
Okasanmi said: “One Alhaji Alaga Olayemi was reportedly kidnapped in his farm at OkeOnigbin by seven unknown gunmen. Intensive effort to rescue him has been activated by the Police Command.”
The businessman has not been released by his captors as at press time and nothing has been heard from them.
