Gunmen attack police station, kill three officers in Delta

The Nsukwa divisional police station located at Aniocha south LGA of Delta state has been razed by unknown gunmen.

WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that the gunmen stormed the police station at about 2am on Sunday.

As at the time of filing this report, the actual number of casualties is yet to be ascertained but three police officers were reportedly killed.

According to report, the assailant burned down vehicles in the premises and carted away police ammunition.

When contacted, the police public relations officer in the state, Bright Edafe did not respond or return calls and messages sent to him.

Recall that some states in the south-east and south-south have witnessed series of attacks on security and government facilities.

Last week, two police stations were razed in Abia within 72hours.

Hoodlums on Tuesday burnt the office of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NLDEA) in Amaekpu in Ohafia LGA.

Two days earlier, gunmen also razed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office in Ohafia.

At least four police stations were attacked last weekend in various parts of southern Nigeria.
