The Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje on Saturday declared that there will be no tribal conflict or religious crisis in Kano state.
This declaration was made on Saturday by the Kano state governor, Ganduje inspite of the ethnic and regional tensions in the country.
He disclosed that Kano has been peaceful and stable because his administration considers everyone living in the ancient city as an indigene.
Ganduje spoke at the occasion marking his six-year anniversary in office, held at the Coronation Hall of Government House, Kano.
At the event, the governor made verbal, pictorial and video presentations of his achievements in the state “for the people of Kano to see, hear and feel it.”
“We will not have tribal and religious crises in Kano State. This is because everyone living in the state is regarded as an indigene of Kano, irrespective of where he comes from, irrespective of his religion and tribe.
“Out of the youths enrolled for the skills acquisition programme, there are beneficiaries who are not of Hausa extraction. This is the principle of united one-Nigeria,” he said.
He added that Kano does not even experience protests or demonstrations. “Even workers, we always resolved issues with them whenever there is financial shortfall, we sit and hold talks with NLC officials and members to resolve amicably.”
Ganduje said his successful story in six years is a product of political will.
He said his administration achieved in education, where he came up with the compulsory free education programme and also pays counterpart funding.
“In health, we provided laboratories in our hospitals in the emirates council. We supplied each of the hospitals with 400 beds.
“We succeeded in defeating COVID-19 by isolating the Coronavirus.
“We created new emirates to help in security and tradition, build the best ultramodern Skills Acquisition Centre, named after Aliko Dangote.
“We succeeded in general empowerment programme, including tea sellers and auto mechanics.
“Kano is the most peaceful state in the country; we shall continue to sustain it so that there is no banditry; so that no one is molested in the state,” he said.
The purpose of transparency and accountability to the people, the occasion is to make the information available to the people to know what the governor has done in six years so that together they can move the state to the next level.
The Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Alhaji Usman Alhaji all that the administration has achieved was because of Ganduje’s foresight.
“He (Ganduje) has done very well in infrastructure, education and the health sector,” Alhaji said.
House of Representatives Majority Leader, Alhasaan Dogowa, congratulated the governor for his “uncommon achievements” in six years. He said Ganduje’s successful story was because of his “commitments and dedication.”
Kano State House of Assembly Speaker Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari said the Ganduje administration made landmark achievements and people-oriented programmes.
He said: “The governor has lived up to trust bestowed in him. He has not betrayed the confidence the people bestowed in him.”
The Kano Speaker disclosed that the state Assembly has made about 100 resolutions and have passed 60 bills into law within the six years.
