Tragedy as many persons sustained degrees of injuries following a tanker explosion which happened in Ikeja, Lagos state.
Eyewitnesses disclosed that the impact of the explosion was felt inside buildings in the government residential area (GRA) axis of Ikeja.
As at the time of filing this report, the cause of the tanker explosion is not yet ascertained.
According to report, the explosion occurred around Sheraton Hotel area which is located on the Mobolaji Bank Anthony way in Ikeja.
WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that officers of the fire service were on ground trying to put out the fire and the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and security operatives have been deployed to the area.
The outbreak also resulted in traffic buildup in the area.
The incident comes weeks after fire razed the fabric section of Cairo market in Oshodi, Lagos.
The Oshodi market fire occurred exactly six weeks ago before the latest incident.
While goods worth millions of naira were destroyed in the market fire, no loss of life was recorded.
