Suspected assassins kill Delta APC chieftain’s police orderly, driver

Suspected assassins shot dead a police orderly and personal driver of a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Michael Johnny along Airport junction, Effurun, Delta State.

It was gathered that the incident occurred around 11.12am on Sunday, July 4 shortly after the late driver and police orderly had dropped off the politician’s wife at an unnamed church.

The gunmen allegedly trailed Johnny’s red Venza car thinking the politician and his wife were in the car when they opened fire on the two occupants killing them on the spot.

According to eyewitnesses, the orderly was shot in the head, while the driver was shot in the abdomen and both men died on the spot.

The gunmen were said to have escaped in their waiting vehicle after killing the men and did not remove any item from the victims’ car.

The APC chieftain from the Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area of the state, who confirmed the incident claimed the gunmen were after him and his family.

Johnny stated that his wife was not in the vehicle when the gunmen attacked and assassinated the police escort and his personal driver.
