2 suspects arrested for selling adulterated fertiliser in Gombe

The Gombe state police command has stated that it arrested two suspects for allegedly buying and selling adulterated fertiliser in the state.

This was contained in a statement released on Friday by the police spokesperson, Mary Malum.

Malum said the suspects were arrested on July 4 by the police operatives in charge of the state criminal investigation following credible intelligence.

She added that the suspects; Ibrahim Salisu, 26 years from Marke village, Kankara LGA in Katsina state and Maina Bukar, 46 years from Biu LGA, Borno State, confessed to having been in the illegal business of buying and selling the counterfeit products in the state.

Mallum said that the fertiliser was mixed with sand with the suspects exchanging selling it at N900 per bag.

“One Ibrahim Salisu, 26 years from Marke village, Kankara LGA, Katsina State and one Maina Bukar, 46 years from Biu LGA, Borno State, who is the buyer here in Gombe State,” Mallum said.

“(It) is adulterated with sand from Katsina State to Gombe State and the receiver, one Ibrahim Salisu, buys it at the rate of N900 only per bag.

She said that the command had recovered all the fertilizers as exhibits, adding that the products had been sent to the state ministry of agriculture for authentication and laboratory analysis as the suspect will be charged charged to court for prosecution.
