The Nigerian Army has refuted claims that Maj.-Gen. Ibrahim Ali, the General Officer Commanding, 3 Division in Rukuba, near Jos, was plotting an evil mission in Plateau.

The GOC is the Commander of the Special Task Force, Operation Safe Haven (OPSH).

The military arm clarified that Ali was born in Nasarawa Local Government Area, not in Miango chiefdom of Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau.

Maj. Eli Lazarus, an acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, further debunked speculations that Ali lived with his uncle, Ja’afaru in Miango and attended Command Secondary School, Jos.

The reports alleged that Ali was deployed to ensure that all the people of Miango chiefdom were wiped out.

Lazarus said the General was born and bred in Kano by his biological parents and had his early education in the state.

The Army noted that he is the son of late Sallau Ali, and not the son of the younger brother, Ja’afaru Isa, the former Ardo of Miango.

Ali attended Lebanon Primary School Kano in 1974 and proceeded to Saint Thomas Secondary School, Kano in 1980.

He later joined the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna, and completed his cadet training at the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, United Kingdom, the Army added.

“Ali is on a mission to weed out criminals on the Plateau and not on a mission to support any tribe or religion”, Lazarus said.
