Ohammed Ibrahim, the Adamawa State NYSC coordinator, has lamented that the vandalism that End SARS looters perpetuated is currently impacting hardship on the 1,200 Batch B Stream1 corps members camping in Modire.
Recall that 10 months ago the End SARS protests that rocked the Nation was disrupted by violence and looting, the effects are still evident in many private and public institutions.
The institutions include the Adamawa State Orientation Camp of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) located in Modire, near the state capital, Yola, where bedding and fittings, including mattresses and ceiling fans in hotels and offices were looted.
“These young people are grasping for a shortage of mattresses and other basic materials like plastic chairs used for seminars and lectures,” the coordinator said.
“The bore hole pump that was vandalized has been replaced by the Adamawa State Government, there is water supply 24/7 and a standby generator for electricity supply.
“What we need urgently now is concrete fencing and more chairs and tables in the camp.”
The coordinator who said the state governor, Ahamdu Finitiri had donated over 1,000 mattresses and some other materials needed in the camp, said the camp would still appreciate more.
He reiterated the camp’s need for a solid fence, a concrete rather than barbed wire fencing.
“Barbwire does not stop hoodlums from entering into the camp,” he said.
