Scores killed, many injured as youths clash with Fulanis in Jos

There was chaos on Saturday, August 14, in the Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State as some angry youths clashed with Fulanis around Rukuba Road.

The clash reportedly led to the death of scores of people.

WITHIN NIGERIA gathered that some buses were carrying Fulani heading towards Rukuba Road while Irigwe people and other sympathisers were waiting for the corpses of six of their people who were recently killed by suspected herdsmen in an attack for funeral before the fight broke out.

ASP Gabriel Ogaba, the Spokesman of the Plateau State Police Command, said, “Yes, there was unrest at Rukuba Road of Jos North LGA.

“Security personnel have been deployed to the area and have taken charge.

“At the moment the area is calm and residents are going about their lawful businesses.

“Details about what happened will be communicated shortly.”

As at the time of filing this report, there was no actual casualty figure, as the dead and injured have been taken away by security operatives.
