Armed robbers kill fuel marketer in Ondo, cart away N2m

Some unknown gunmen suspected to be armed robbers have shot dead a fuel marketer in Ondo State.

The deceased, identified as Bode Dangunro, was said to have been killed in Igbokoda, headquarters of Ilaje Local Government Area of the state.

Before his gruesome murder, Dagunro was said to be a successful fuel marketer at Olotu, a riverine community in Ugbonla axis of the local government.

According to sources, his killers, who murdered him in cold blood at his residence, also carted away the sum of N2 million.

Speaking on the incident, the deceased’s brother, Mr Malo Olorunwa Francis, a staff of Niger Delta Development Company, NDDC, in Okitipupa, disclosed that the robbers invaded the residence of the victim around 9pm.

Francis added that after he was shot in the stomach, he rushed him to a private hospital in Igbokoda where he gave up the ghost.

Tee-Leo Ikoro, the Police Public Relations Officer of the state police command, could not be reached for confirmation as calls to his phone went unanswered.

However, a police source, who confirmed the incident, said preliminary investigation is in progress to track down the fleeing suspects.

It added that the remains of the deceased have already been deposited in a morgue at Igbokoda.

Meanwhile, the incident has thrown the community in a mournful mood as they described the killing as a huge tragedy.
