Ex-Eagles striker, Thompson Usiyan dies in United States

Former Green Eagles of Nigeria player, Thompson Usiyan has died at the age of 65.

He died on Tuesday, August 31, in his Lamest, Redonda Beach home, California, United States of America.

Usiyan, born in Effurun, Delta State, was thrust into the limelight with the then Mid-western State academicals before he got an invitation to the senior national team.

Until he left for further studies in America, Usiyan was the leading goal scorer for the Green Eagles.

He holds the NCAA Division I career scoring record and played in the North American Soccer League, Major Indoor Soccer League, American Soccer League and Continental Indoor Soccer League
