Nigeria to help DR Congo set up national fire service

Comptroller-General of the Federal Fire Service (FFS), Ibrahim Liman has stated that Nigeria will support the Democratic Republic of Congo in establishing a national fire service.

This was stated on Wednesday by Ibrahim Liman during a courtesy visit to the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS), Taraba command.

According to the CG of Federal Fire Service (FFS), the DR Congo requested for assistance and the FFS positively responded.

“The request became necessary due to the capacity of the organisation as the most qualified and second-best fire responders in Africa.”

The controller general said the Nigerian fire service is well suited to help DR Congo because of the capacity of its fire fighting equipment and the strength of its personnel.

Liman attributed the development in the fire service to President Muhammadu Buhari’s dedication to ensure that all the budgetary allocations were released in full to the organisation.

He said the service will effectively carry out its role to guarantee the safety of lives and property of citizens in times of fire disasters.

Emerald Okoro, comptroller of Nigeria Correctional Service, Taraba command, commended Liman for his achievement in the federal fire service.

He assured the CG of the continuous collaboration between the two agencies in the state.
