Nigeria at 61: Buhari’s aide under fire for urging Nigerians to celebrate ‘greatness of country’

After urging Nigerians to celebrate the greatness of Nigeria on Independence Day, Nigerians have lambasted Bashir Ahmad, Personal Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Digital and New Media.

Earlier, Bashir Ahmad reminded Nigerians of the October 1st event tomorrow, Friday via his Facebook page.

It reads, “Tomorrow, October 1st, is Nigeria’s 61st Independence Anniversary. Let’s all celebrate the greatness of our dear county”.

The post, however, didn’t go down well as angry Nigerians stormed the comment section to tackle Bashir, reminding him of the economic and security crisis bedeviling the entire nation in Buhari’s regime.

Below are some of the reactions;

Dauda B Abubakar: “Where is a greatness when blood is spilling over d country? When people can’t access their farms? When students are not secured in their schools? That sense of greatness is destroyed by PMB’s six years of failure & incompetency”.

Abdul Malik: “Wetin we wan celebrate? is it the hunger or the perpetual killings/kidnaps”?

Amb Reuben: “What are you celebrating?
Everywhere is dead bodies in Southern Kaduna. What exactly are you guys celebrating”?

Makari Gali: “Greatness as in abundance poverty, Insecurity, corruption, unstandardized economy, incompetent leadership, selfishness of political rulers, spiritual looters or what else?

“Alhamdulillah for the independence, but regarding enjoying Nigerian wealth, masses have nothing to show as benefit of their own Country”!

Maryam Ibrahim: “We have no greatness to celebrate. Come to Sabon Birni area or Isa Local Govt of Sokoto u will never wish to celebrate any nonsense independence”
