The Nigerian military foiled an Islamist State West Africa Province (ISWAP) plan to attack a camp of repentant Boko Haram militants in Borno.

Insurgents were driven back by troops as they proceeded towards their intended position in Damboa Local Government Area.

The fighters stormed Damboa town in a convoy of gun trucks Saturday evening, sources told PRNigeria.

“The camp is where hundreds of repentant Boko Haram members have been staying since they renounced terrorism,” an officer said.

The intelligence disclosed that forces were deployed to face the ISWAP marauders after a distress call.

“Though the terrorists were repelled in a brutal gunfire, I cannot give the number of casualties they could have suffered”, he added.
