Amotekun arrests man planning to sell kidnapped four-year-old boy for N200,000 in Ondo

23-year-old Samuel Akpan, has been arrested for allegedly stealing a four-year-old boy in the Alagbaka area of Akure, and planning to sell the victim for N200,000.

Parading the suspects at the Ondo State Security Network Agency, also known as the Amotekun Corps’ headquarters on Tuesday, the state Commander, Chief Adetunji Adeleye, said Akpan and other suspects had in recent time been terrorising residents of the state.

Adeleye said the corp arrested 18 persons from different locations in the state over alleged involvement in cultism, Internet fraud and kidnapping.

Some of the suspects, according to the commander, included Adegboro Opeyemi, Taopheek Yusuf, Micheal Olawole, Sadiku Kehinde, Sule Kabiru, Adetula Ayodeji, Olatokunbo Taiwo, Suleman and Ayuba Imoleayo.

He said, “Over the last two months, we have been on the field and many criminals have been apprehended. As you can see, their crimes range from kidnapping to robbery, house breaking, rape and even Internet fraud.

“We have a number of criminals that are here who are going through different stages of interrogation and awaiting prosecution.

“We also have someone who kidnapped a four-year-old boy with the help of the people around. We were able to apprehend him and rescue the victim.”

The commander said the suspects would be charged to court at the end of investigations.

Akpan said, “I was already on my way to sell the boy for N200,000 when I was arrested by a group of people and men of the Amotekun Corps.”
