The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Osun State has discharged 1091 members of the 2020 Batch B Stream 1a and 1b who have completed the one-year mandatory national service.

Mrs. Winifred Shokpeka, the Osun State Coordinator of the NYSC, said this during a low-key ceremony held Thursday across the state’s 30 local government areas and an area office.

She also stated that the stream had four absconders and that 12 corps members had their service year extended.

The State Coordinator who stated that the service year was generally successful added that from the records that were handed over to her from her predecessor, Ayodele Adegoke, there was no record of accidents or death recorded.

While expressing satisfaction with the conduct of the 2020 Batch B Stream 1a and 1b corps members, Shokpeka stated that she was optimistic that the subsequent service year is going to be smooth.

According to her, “Your reports are very satisfactory thereby qualifying you for the fourth and last phase of the service year which we all are witnessing today.

“Reports of your selflessness, devotion to duty and resilience has reached me. Some of you left legacies in your places of primary assignments through the group and individual projects embarked upon thereby projecting the image and relevance of the scheme. We say thank you.”

She said that the same degree of devotion and attention to service and welfare that has always been present in the state will be extended to serving corps members as well as the 2021 Batch C Stream 1 potential corps members who are now attending their orientation course.
