The scarcity of fuel in Zamfara State has impacted numerous businesses that rely on petrol since they are currently operating at their lowest ebbs.

According to a Daily Post finding in Gusau, the state capital, fuel scarcity has had a significant impact on motorists and passengers, particularly in the capital.

According to numerous motorists who spoke with reporters, there are only a few filling stations in Gusau that have fuel, resulting in long lines.

A taxi driver, Danladi Musa, stated that the charge for transporting people from Gusau to Tsafe town, which was previously N200, had been hiked to N350 due to the state’s gasoline shortage.

“But there is no notification from the NNPC that the price of petrol has been increased neither has the corporation reduced the quantity of fuel being supplied to Zamfara state. Then why is the scarcity of fuel?” He asked.

Danladi said that many commercial motorcycle riders and motorists now come to Gusau to buy fuel for their daily operations since all filling stations in most local government areas of the state have been closed by the government due to banditry.

It could be recalled that the state government came out with security measures that allowed only the filling stations in Gusau to operate while all the filling stations in other areas were closed except in a few selected local governments of the state.

WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that buying fuel in jerricans remains banned by the state government, curbing roadside hawking of fuel as the Task Force on security continues to monitor every nook and cranny of the state.
