Police arrest alleged killer of Buhari supporter, Kenechukwu Okeke

Anambra State Police Command have arrested one Chiadiobi, an Enugu State native and butcher at Tarzan market in Nkpor, Anambra State, in connection with the death of Mr Kenechukwu Okeke, a supporter of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Okeke, according to his wife, Mrs Blessing Odinakachi, was allegedly murdered in October by Chiadiobi, a former renter, following a disagreement.

DSP Toochukwu Ikenga of the Anambra State Police Command verified Chiadiobi’s detention on Friday.

The arrest came barely 24 hours after newsmen reported the gruesome murder of the deceased.

According to Ikenga, who spoke to the press, the state Police Commissioner, Mr Echeng Eworo, issued an order for the suspect to be arrested and questioned in connection with Okeke’s murder.

Although details of the arrest are still sketchy, Ikenga stated that the suspect had discarded his phone number and gone into hiding when it became clear that Okeke’s death had become public, but he was later smoked out by police operatives and is now assisting police authorities with their investigations.

Okeke had reportedly been macheted and ignited by the suspect and later died in an Orthopedic Hospital in Enugu in October 2021 following injuries sustained from the burn.

However, his death was not reported, until Daily Post exposed the sordid details last Thursday.

Okeke was a pro-Buhari activist who dragged many to court for abusing the president, including celebrities and media outfits.

He became popular last year when he took sides with the federal government over the EndSARS protest, while also dragging celebrities who led the protests to court.

Okeke’s wife confirmed the arrest of her husband’s alleged killer while thanking Daily Post for making the death of her husband public.
