Imo govt gives old Owerri Timber market traders four weeks ultimatum

The Imo State Government has given traders at the old Owerri Timber Market (Ogba Osisi) on the Wetheral road a four-week deadline to leave.

The ultimatum was issued on Monday by Engr. Francis Onyedikachi Chukwu, General Manager of the Owerri Capital Development Authority (OCDA), during a routine inspection with his team.

According to Chukwu, the Imo State Government has planned a permanent location for the traders at Naze Timber Market in Owerri North LGA.

He said their stay at the old Owerri Timber market is causing obstruction to the master plan of the capital city.

The GM pleaded with them to adhere to the order, as failure to move in the next one month will amount to them losing their wares.

OCDA said that it was imperative for government to do the needful to sanitize the state and avert danger to life and property.
