Two suspected bandits arrested, 71 rustled cows recovered in Niger state

Two suspected bandits and cattle rustlers have been arrested by the police and 71 cattle recovered from them in Niger State.

Spokesperson of the command, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, who disclosed this in a statement on Friday, December 3, said the suspects confessed to be members of a gang of bandits who attacked a village in Munya LGA.

“On 30/11/2021 at about 1800hrs, based on credible information, Police operatives attached to Gawu-Babangida Division arrested two suspects, namely; Jauro Nuhu,35, and Sani Goga,25, both of Dapa village, via Kwali FCT Abuja,” the PPRO stated.

“The suspects were sighted at Izom cattle market with two suspected stolen sheep. The sheep were suspected to have been rustled from Zazagha village, Munya LGA on 26/11/2021 and an alarm was raised while the suspects were arrested by the Police.

“During interrogation, the suspects confessed to be members of a ten-man gang of bandits who stormed Chibani, Dnalakpe villages via Zazagha on the above mentioned date and rustled cattle.

“In the course of investigation, seventy-one (71) cows and twenty-three (23) sheep were recovered from the suspects in the process of moving the cattle from Zazagha forest to Kwali Area of FCT Abuja.”

DSP Abiodun said effort is ongoing to arrest other members of the gang adding that the case under investigation.
