AAPOLY loses another student

Ogun state owned institution, Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic, has been thrown into a State of mourning following the death of one Cynthia Odurinde, a National Diploma (ND) 1 Student of Mass communication. Oderinde and four others died on Thursday in a ghastly motor accident along Awa-Mamo road.

Within Nigeria cannot ascertain if there was any survivor.

This reporter gathered that this will be the third death recorded in the institution in two months. Last three weeks, a student of Mass communication, Fashina Khadijat, died from childbirth, also a Business Administration student, Fashina Moyosore, died on the 24th of November after suffering from a recurring illness.

Within Nigeria was informed that Odurinde, who was currently writing her second semester examination, was traveling home to get foodstuffs when she met her sudden death.

The Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic Student union (AAPOLYSU) President, Talabi John, has expressed his condolences and called for a 3-days fasting and prayer. He said it’s important that students call on God for Divine intervention.

“The entire student of AAP condoles the family of Cynthia Odurinde on the loss of their daughter, may the lord give them the fortitude to bear the loss. Due to the unprecedented incidents that has been happening in the school, it is very pertinent to call on God for divine intervention, The student union set to hold 3days fasting and prayer session which will be starting from tomorrow” he said

Similarly, the Association of Student Communicators (ASCOM) President, Efundiya Daniel, through a statement called for unity and calmness in this period of grief.

The statement which was equally signed by the Association Public Relations officer, Olamiju Olatomiwa, said a prayer session would equally be held in the department.

The statement read in part:

“The association of mass communicators mourns with the deceased family. We understand that it is a very challenging moment for students especially as we just had a similar plight recently”

We urge everyone to stay united, calm and strong in moments like this, the association would like everyone to know that the association is open to receiving any issue bothering the minds of any student”

“The association has however decided to come up with a prayer session for the department. The date and time would be passed across as soon as possible. The date and time of the Candlelight procession will also be passed across as soon as possible”

Within Nigeria gathered that a management team will be visiting the deceased family tomorrow to show their condolences.
