Gunmen suspected to be bandits have invaded a mosque at Tella town in the Gassol local government area of Taraba State, abducting four worshippers.

A resident of Tella, Suleiman Rabiu, disclosed this to the newsmen, noting that the gunmen, about 12 in number, barricaded the mosque at about 7.12pm on Wednesday and kidnapped worshipers who were observing Isha’i prayers.

The source said the gunmen after disrupting the prayer session, led out the worshipers from the Mosque at gunpoint.

The gunmen, the source, said later released one person and took the remaining to an unknown location.

Among those abducted are Alhaji Yahaya, Aminu Dali and Alhaji Hussaini, who is chairman of grain dealers in the area.

Residents of the Gassol area are under attack from gunmen suspected to be bandits that relocated from Zamfara state into the area following the military onslaught.

Within the last three weeks, more than 25 persons, mostly traders and farmers, have been abducted.

DSP Usman Abdullahi, the Spokesperson for the Taraba police command, confirmed the mosque incident but did not go into details.
