Crossover night: 7-year-old boy dies, mother,sister sustain injuries in motorcycle-vehicle collision in Delta

A seven-year-old boy died while his sister and mother, identified as Mrs Jennifer Timothy sustained varying degrees of bodily injuries when the commercial motorcycle conveying the trio to a crossover night church service crashed in Warri, Delta State.

The accident was said to have occurred at Ovwian, Udu Local Government Area, when the motorcycle had a head-on collision with a vehicle.

The boy lost his life on the spot as he hit his head on the road while his mother sustained fractures in both legs. The girl was also said to have had serious injuries on her chin and other parts of her body.

According to PUNCH, the victims were rushed to the Central Hospital, Warri, where Timothy and her daughter were currently receiving treatment while the remains of the deceased son had been deposited in the hospital morgue.

Narrating her ordeal to journalists on her hospital bed, the bereaved mother said they were on their way from Orhuworhun to the church in Ovwian when the accident occurred.

The petty trader amid sobs stated that her seven-year-old son died on the spot when his head hit the tarred road as the motorcycle had a head-on collision with a vehicle.

The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, could not be reached for comment on the incident.
