Two arrested as gunmen kill Ebubeagu operative, set body on fire

Unknown persons have killed and set ablaze a member of Ebubeagu Security outfit, Ifeanyi Orogbo from Igweledeoha village, Amagu community, in the Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

According to PUNCH, a source from the area said the suspects traced late 32-year-old Orogbo to his pub in the community at night and killed him before setting his body ablaze.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Loveth Odah, who confirmed the incident said that two persons had been arrested in connection with the incident.

Odah said, “The DPO of Ikwo Police Division said that at about 3am on the day of the incident, he received a phone call from one source at Igweledeoha Amagu Ikwo that one Ebubeagu security outfit, Ifeanyi Orogbo, aged 32 years, an indigene of Igweledeoha was murdered and partially burnt by unknown persons in his beer parlour along Eke Achara, Agubia Road.

“The DPO said as he received the information, he quickly mobilised a team of police operatives to the area but the culprits have deserted the area. He said the corpse has been taken to a general hospital for preservation and autopsy.”

According to her, the Commissioner of Police, Garba Aliyu, expressed dismay over the killing and vowed to bring the perpetrators to book.
