Troops of the Nigerian Army have killed many suspected fighters of the Islamic State of West Africa Province in Ngirbua Village, Yobe State.

According SaharaReporters, military sources said the troops ambushed the terrorists, killing a yet to be ascertained number of them while several others escaped with fatal gunshot wounds in the encounter.

The sources added that Anti Aircraft Guns, AK 47 riffles, among others were recovered from the insurgents.

Since the death of Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau, ISWAP has been consolidating its grip in locations around Lake Chad.

WITHIN NGERIA recalls that just recently ISWAP appointed 45-year-old Wali Sani Shuwaram, as its new Leader in Lake Chad.

The sect’s membership has swollen with the defection of hundreds of Boko Haram fighters under Shekau.
