Akume will ensure victory for APC in 2023, says Lawani

Chief Stephen Lawani

Immediate-past deputy governor of Benue state, Chief Stephen Lawani, has drummed support for the APC national chairmanship aspiration of the minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Senator Dr George Akume, describing the former governor of Benue state as the man with the magic wand the APC needs to sustain its winning path in 2023.

Lawani during a chat with journalists over the weekend, revealed that it will be a great disservice to the party and Nigerians if the stakeholders and elders of the party fail to maximize the experience, sterling leadership qualities of Senator George Akume to prosper the party.

He said the APC is in dire need of a capable hand that will stabilize the party, and lead it to victory again in 2023, “our great party has passed through some ordeals, there are cracks in the party. We owe the APC and Nigeria a duty to elect capable leadership that will stabilize the party and lead us to victory in 2023”.

He also hinted that Senator George Akume’s emergence as APC national chairman will rekindle the faith of Northern Christians in the Nigeria project, expressing fears that continued exclusion of Northern Christians in the political power play in the country might pose a threat to the peace process.

Lawani  who has since made known his intentions to contest the 2023 Benue state governorship polls, under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), promising to revive the economy of the state through agricultural reforms, concluded the chat with the assurances that Akume’s bridge-building stride will standout as a good experiment for a more United and stronger APC. “As you all know, Senator George Akume is a nationalist with friends all over the country. He is a cosmopolitan leader and bridge-builder, his reign as national chairman of our party will, most certainly, be remarkable for entrenching peace and lasting unity in the party”.
