Mesut Ozil, the former Germany international, has revealed who his favorite Arsenal player is.
Santi Cazorla was Ozil’s favorite player at Arsenal, according to his agent, Erkut Sogut.
Sogut also claimed that Ozil’s significant deterioration in his last years at Arsenal was caused by Cazorla’s departure.
Remember that Ozil did not play for Arsenal under Mikel Arteta in his last nine months before departing for Fenerbache in January 2021.
“He [Ozil] had Santi for a while and he loved him,” Sogut told AFTV.
“I think probably one of his most favourite players. Mesut is a smart, intelligent player, he reads the game and he is always looking. He loves to play with intelligent players.”
He added, “Santi is very smart, very intelligent and has great technique and that suited Mesut a lot to have him behind him.
“When Santi left you could see it was not the same anymore, right away, it changed.”
Meanwhile, Cazorla left Arsenal for Villarreal in 2018.
