Mauricio Pochettino, manager of Paris Saint-Germain, has stated that Sergio Ramos deserves respect after being booed by the club’s fans during their match against FC Lorient on Sunday.
Ramos appeared to be booed by a section of PSG fans after entering the field against Lorient at the Parc des Princes.
Since joining PSG on a free transfer from Real Madrid last summer, the veteran center-back has had an injury-plagued debut season.
Ramos’ appearance against Lorient was only his sixth in all competitions for PSG this season.
PSG has only eight games left this season after being eliminated from the Coupe de France and the Champions League.
Speaking after the match, Pochettino believes that the reason for PSG fans’ frustration was not specifically directed at Ramos.
“We are all affected. I think it’s the frustration of the fans for the result, I don’t think it is directed against him, he’s a great champion, and he deserves respect like all the players in Paris Saint Germain,” Pochettino said as quoted by PSGTalk.
Meanwhile, a goal from Lionel Messi and a brace each from Kylian Mbappe and Neymar ensured PSG defeated Lorient.
