Train attack: Terrorists release, Sadiq, son of prominent northern leader

Terrorists who attacked AK9 Abuja- Kaduna bound train attacked on March 28, 2022 have released, Sadiq, one of the passengers abducted during the attack.

Sadiq is son of the Convener of the Northern Elders’ Forum, Ango Abdullahi.

The victims family had earlier said they were ready to negotiate the release of their loved ones if given the option by the bandits to do so.

One of the victim’s family leaders, Dr. Abdulfatai Jimoh, had said they were forlorn of hope as their optimism continues to wane 30 days after the incident occurred.

He said, “The situation is still the same. There is no communication from them (bandits). As I said, the last time they called was our relations that we spoke to. We have not spoken with them (bandits) at all.

“From what they (kidnappers) said, it was the government they wanted to talk to, so they have not called us. But assuming there is an option, we would have explored the option.”

However, The PUNCH is reporting that the son of the former Vice-Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University has regained his freedom from his captors after an unspecified amount of money was allegedly paid as ransom.

Sadiq was the second to be released after the terrorists freed the Managing Director of the Bank of Agriculture, Alwan Hassan, whom they (terrorists) claimed was left to go on age ground.

Since then, there have been calls by well-meaning Nigerians to release the other victims of the train attack, which claimed nine lives, including a young medical doctor, Dr. Chinelo Megafu.
