Atiku deletes Facebook, Twitter posts on Deborah’s killing after fanatics threatened his 2023 ambition

Former Vice President and presidential aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar has deleted a post he made on his Facebook and Twitter pages about slain Deborah Samuel after northern fanatics threatened his 2023 presidential ambition.

WITHIN NIGERIA had reported that Deborah was burnt to death at Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto on Thursday morning for allegedly posting comments that blasphemed Prophet Mohammed.

Atiku deleted the Facebook post he made last night around 10:20pm less than an hour later to due barrage of threats from fanatics of northern origin who asked him to forget his presidential ambition.

The post, which gathered thousands of reactions within minutes, were, mostly from fundamentalists who warned Atiku to stay away from condemning the murder of the Christian student.

“There can not be a justification for such gruesome murder. Deborah Yakubu was murdered, and all those behind her death must be brought to justice,” Atiku said. “My condolences to her family and friends.”

The politician also deleted a similar message he posted on Twitter much later.

According to Peoples Gazette, spokesman for Atiku did not return a request seeking comments about why he took down the post on Facebook.
