Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna State has described how Chibuike Amaechi, a former Rivers State Governor, freed him from DSS imprisonment.
El-Rufai told Kaduna State delegates on Sunday that his wife has not and will never forget the role Amaechi played in saving him from the fangs of the secret police. Amaechi is one of the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential hopefuls.
He stated that even before the election, Amaechi was his wife’s favorite Nigerian for this specific act.
“One time the SSS wanted to arrest me, that I wrote something.
“Governor Amaechi called and said I will take you there and I will not leave until they let you go, what did you do?
“He took me there in his car and stayed there until they let me go. Till tomorrow, my wife will never forget that. Amaechi is her favourite Nigerian,” he said.
There are speculations that should Amaechi win the APC presidential primary and get the party’s sole ticket, he would pick Governor El-Rufai as his running mate.
