Police destroy illicit drugs worth N10m in Lagos

Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command in conjunction with other sister security agencies destroyed some illicit drugs valued at N10 million.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, DCP Ahmed Kotangora, led the team to the dumpsite in Ewu-Elepe, a suburb of Ikorodu in Lagos State, to destroy the drugs.

According to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the police, officials of the NDLEA, NAFDAC, the Neighbourhood Watch and task force on environmental offences supervised the exercise on Tuesday.

The drugs: 400 wraps of Indian Hemp, Cannabis and other hard drugs were intercepted in April at Mile-2 area of Lagos State by the Rapid Response Squad (RSS) operatives.

DCP Kotangora, who represented the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, CP Abiodun Alabi, said that the exercise was in compliance with a court order to destroy hard drugs recovered in the state by men of the Rapid Response Squad in April.

He said that three suspects were arrested in connection with the seizure.
