Yobe lawmakers clear air on alleged move to impeach Gov Buni

Gov Mai Mala Buni

The Yobe State House of Assembly has denied rumors that Assembly members were plotting to remove Governor Mai Mala Buni from office.

The House made the stance of the Assembly known on Thursday during a press briefing in Damaturu, through its Chairman House Committee on Information, Gafo Mai Zabo Bizi, who was represented by his deputy, Hon. Abdullahi Adamu Bazuwa.

The legislators also called the impeachment report “false and malicious.”

“The entire members of the house wish to categorically state that the above statement is false, baseless, and malicious.

“Members of the state assembly wish to condemn in totality the story published in an online news medium, entitled: “Impeachment: Governor Buni seals threat with an automatic ticket to 24 Assembly members in Yobe”, as well as a video clip being circulated by one Mohammed Yakubu Lai-lai on the same subject,” he said.

The lawmakers expressed their continued support and cooperation to Governor Mai Mala Buni for the respect and cordial connection that has existed between the two branches of government.

They did, however, threaten to sue the culprits of such damaging disclosure.
