Muhammad Shehu-Baba, the Chairman of the Keffi Local Government Area in Nasarawa State, and Dr. Tanimu Mohammed, the Chairman’s Aide, were held captive by their kidnappers; however, they have regained their freedom.

This information was provided to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Lafia by ASP Ramhan Nansel, who serves as the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state.

On Friday, armed men killed the police orderly who worked for the Keffi Local Government Area Chairman, Sgt. Alhassan Habib, and then kidnapped the Chairman of the Keffi Local Government Area along with his assistant.

According to the PPRO, they were able to regain their freedom at approximately 9:00 p.m. on Saturday and were then able to reunite with their families.

However, according to the spokesperson for the police department, three suspects were detained near the Gittata community in Keffi

“The suspects, who came from Kaduna State, were arrested while negotiating for ransom,” he added.

ASP Nansel, however, said that the police were not aware of any ransom paid before their release.

He explained that the abductors were released due to sustained pressure from the security agencies.

Meanwhile, the deceased police officer has since been buried according to Islamic rites in Keffi.
