Gunmen on Thursday suspected of being bandits launched a terror attack on Zurmi town, the administrative center of the Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State, kidnapping an unknown number of people.

A resident of the neighborhood, who asked that his name not be mentioned, confirmed the incident to reporters.

According to Daily Post, the bandits stormed the town around 10:00 p.m. and began shooting indiscriminately, abducting a large number of residents.

“Though they didn’t kill anybody, they abducted an unidentified number of people during the operation.

“Just three days ago, they killed one person and rustled cattle,” he said.

However, all efforts to get the reaction of the State’s police spokesman, SP Mohammed Shehu proved unsuccessful as he was not picking up his phone calls.

It has been observed that kidnappings have resurfaced fully in the State.
