Imo: Court inspector dies from kidnappers’ gunshot injuries

A court inspector, Odera Onumajulu, who was shot by gunmen in Owerri, the Imo state capital while trying to kidnap her is dead.

The Nigeria Bar Association, Owerri branch disclosed that she died on Wednesday June 22, a month after the incident which occurred on May 22 in Owerri.

The Customary Court Inspector sustained gunshot injuries from gunmen who were forced to let her go after attempting to kidnap her in front of her house.

Secretary of NBA, Owerri branch, Chinedu Agu, said in a statement; “The deceased lawyer died on Wednesday after she suffered a gunshot injury from dare-devil kidnappers who abducted her on May 22 in front of her house.

“Before the ugly incident, Onumajulu was a Customary Court Inspector attached to the Customary Court of Appeal (CCA) and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2016.

“It is very sad how another colleague has become a victim of the ravaging insecurity in Imo.

“We extend our condolences to both her family and extended members of the family.”
